Full course description
Act 20 in Action is a four-week course designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills required to meet Wisconsin’s Act 20 requirements for literacy instruction. Participants will explore evidence-based strategies for teaching phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, oral language development, vocabulary, writing, comprehension, fluency, and building background knowledge. Educators will deepen their understanding of effective literacy instruction and its impact on student success. This course supports compliance during the transition with updated educator preparation program requirements in Wisconsin while empowering teachers to implement best practices in their classrooms.

Instructor BIO:
Dr. Steven Witt a PhD s asynchronous) no f2f sessioncholar, researcher, and Director of Graduate Literacy, specializing in best-practice educational theory and methods. A national and international presenter, he brings expertise in leadership and literacy practices, with a research focus on transformative leadership and coaching. Dr. Witt is the author of multiple works, including Leadership Resilience: The Path to Possibilities and a book on transformative research practices. His work empowers educators and leaders to foster resilience, innovation, and meaningful change in their fields.
