Course: CEH 0403 | A Rehabilitative Professionals Guide: Trauma-Informed Care Across the Lifespan

This introductory-level continuing education course is available for practicing occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists or students who are interested in increasing their knowledge and competence in using a trauma-informed approach. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the neuroscience behind trauma, learn resilience/coping strategies to provide trauma-informed care and minimize secondary trauma, and apply those strategies when working with individuals across the lifespan (pediatrics, adults, older adults). By the end of the course, participants will have a toolkit that will guide them in their practice and help foster a trauma-aware atmosphere.

Instructor Bio:

Meghan Watry-Christian
PhD, OT-L
 
Dr. Watry-Christian completed her B.A. in Psychology from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2003, MOT from Concordia University WI in 2007, and PhD in Special Education from Northcentral University in 2019. She has clinical practice experience in early childhood/school-based occupational therapy and adult acute care practice.
