This course is designed to increase learner’s success in school, work, and personal life by learning skills related to self-awareness, setting, and pursing meaningful goals, and developing positive personal qualities such as self-esteem, attitude, self-discipline, and self-motivation which will assist learner’s educational and vocation transition into independent living. This course students will start to develop their HESED Student Learning Plan (HSLP) and develop their personal and professional short term and long-term goals in collaboration with their advisor.

Instructor BIOS:

Erik Halling graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in theology and European History. After graduation Erik spent 17 years working in banking and finance with a number of financial institutions working primarily with consumer lending while completing graduate work at UW in bank management and lending. After leaving the banking industry Erik joined CUW and worked in various areas, serving the Advancement Dept, Accelerated Education, Extended Campus Operations, Instructional Design, and the Registrar’s Office. Erik has been working with the IDD student program over the past year and is looking forward to growing the program under CUW.
