Full course description

CUW’s Hesed program reflects a genuine desire to put God’s love into action through uplifting and empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they navigate the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. We are committed to walking alongside our students to provide support and just-right challenges as they journey toward independence and self-sufficiency.

Course: CEHS 302 | Community Living and Vocational Application 2

This course serves as the capstone for the Hesed Transitional Program’s third-year curriculum. It is designed to enhance students' independence in functional living skills, money management, and social/emotional well-being through a variety of community experiences and opportunities. In this course, students will have the chance to expand their job portfolios by engaging in hands-on activities that will bolster their employability. They will also work on completing job applications for post-graduation opportunities and exploring vocational placements that align with their career goals. As the culminating course of the Hesed Transitional Program, it will comprehensively address students’ personal, vocational, and independent living objectives through an applied learning model. This approach ensures that students not only learn theoretical concepts but also put them into practice in real-world settings, preparing them for a successful transition to life after graduation. By integrating practical experiences with their academic learning, students will leave the program with a robust skill set and the confidence needed to navigate their future independently.
