Course: CEH 0039 | Introduction to Animal Assisted Therapy | C25/26 | Course 1 (of 4)

This online course will introduce participants to specialized knowledge needed to understand Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and will address the core Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) competencies. Participants will:

  • gain ethological knowledge about dogs, animal psychology, and methods of animal training
  • explore the social and cultural factors relevant to AAT and implications of human-animal interactions
  • discuss how to maximize the potential for safe interactions between clients and animals in the world that we serve

Prerequisites: none.

2.4 CEUs per course/Certificate upon completion of all 4 courses. 

 

Schedule & Location:

  • Start Date: Sept 7, 2025
  • End Date: Nov 30, 2025
  • Online Asynchronous: No live meeting day/time; participants will access the curriculum online within the fixed Start/End dates, and advance through the program according to scheduled assignment due dates.

Refund Policy: There is no refund on or after the day the offering begins (course, webinar, event, or other like offerings that have a defined start date). For online offerings, there is no refund 24 hours after registration. However, if the offering is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund is given.

Students who have purchased a Bundle and withdraw before Course 1 begins (prior to the first day of class), will receive a full Bundle refund (for all four courses). There are no refunds on or after the first day of Course 1.

 
Instructor Bio:
Dr. Lois Harrison, Concordia University Professor
 
Dr. Harrison is the School of Health Professions Interprofessional Clinic Coordinator at Concordia University Wisconsin. Her research interests focus on interprofessional education, animal assisted interventions, and health/wellness for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disability.
