Course: CEH 0094 | AAT Applied Practice | C25/26 | Course 3 (of 4)

Elevate your Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) skills through a dynamic, blended course. Participants will begin with foundational online prep, then join their cohort on the Concordia University campus in Mequon, WI for an experiential learning weekend. Participants will gain hands-on practice by planning and implementing AAT interventions with simulated cases and real, certified therapy dog teams from the Milwaukee area. This unique opportunity will also teach how to effectively provide direction to a therapy dog handler. Continuous feedback from instructors and peers will ensure participants leave the weekend with increased confidence and competency in their AAT practice.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of all previous AAT certificate coursework.

Schedule & Location:

  • Online Asynchronous/In-Person Hybrid:
    • No live Online meeting day/time; participants will access the curriculum online within the fixed Start/End dates, and advance through the program according to the scheduled assignment due dates, AND
    • Attend one in-person weekend at specified meeting days/times according to a predetermined schedule

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Lois Harrison, Concordia University Professor
 
Dr. Harrison is the School of Health Professions Interprofessional Clinic Coordinator at Concordia University Wisconsin. Her research interests focus on interprofessional education, animal assisted interventions, and health/wellness for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disability.
