Full course description
This course will introduce concepts of self-advocacy and leadership including spirituality, personal advocacy, development of self-awareness of leadership skills, strengths and areas of growth. This course will begin their journey to learn about different leadership styles and begin to develop the awareness of how to be a leader for themselves. This course students will continue to address the goals established in their HESED Student Learning Plan (HSLP) in collaboration with their advisor.

Instructor BIO:
Kelly's mission is to serve my community, students of all abilities, and families my passion for occupational therapy. My faith in God and the understanding of the value of occupational therapy as my chosen vocation is conveyed in the genuine efforts I put forth as an occupational therapy practitioner and instructor. My faith and passion continue to allow me to advocate for students and their families to the best of my abilities ensuring that the care I provide is client centered and build on trust, honesty, and empathy in order to help student live meaningful lives. By showing love, compassion, and gracious to those around us and helping students to develop the skills necessary to live meaningful lives, we are able to be a part of something greater than ourselves. Kelly's professional background includes Clinical Assistant Faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Program at Concordia University of Wisconsin Mequon Campus for the past 2 years, adjunct teaching at Concordia University for 2 years prior to the full-time position. Kelly was allotted many years of experience as an occupational therapist at Aurora HealthCare in both outpatient and inpatient with a strong passion for patients with neurological disorders and diagnosis.
